Aya's Christmas Poem!

CHRISTMAS

Christmas is about spending time with your family
And at home you might put up a tree
You would put a star on the top of the tree
That will hold your memory
Christmas is 1 of the best times of the year
Christmas smells are everywhere
Time to go inside and have some hot cocoa
Drinking your hot cocoa while watching the snow
When you go to sleep
Santa will take a peep
Under your tree he will put presents galore
When you wake up you will be as happy as can be
Cause you can see Santa’s footsteps leading to the door
You can tell Santa’s been here
You can tell Santa’s been everywhere
When you open your presents a smile appears on your face
And then you start dancing around the place
Its time to go out in the snow and have some fun
The Christmas spirit has just begun

A+P Show

On Wednesday the 16th of November, the year 5 team went to the Canterbury A+P Show. We split into small groups and we went where we wanted. There were animals, balloons, traction engines, an FMX motor show and tons more. We all took $2 for an ice block at the end. There 3 choices, a Blasta, a lemonade Popsicle, and a mini ice-cream tub. There was a horse float that could fit up to six horses. There was a gigantic blow up bull dog as well.

Rm 22's Poems

In rm 22 we have been doing poetry. We did Diamante poems, poems featuring our spelling words and a poem of our choice. We shared a poem of our choice as speeches. Here are some of the poems:

A hike, By Leo Marryatt

On February I went for a hike on my motorbike I stopped and got stuck
I saw police  ahead
I hung by and saw a pie, that pie might die
I told a guy it was to late
It was gone, I said bye to the guy's stomach

Animals, By Cushla Barriball

Big and small
Tiny and tall
Skinny and fat
A dog with a hat
Cats and dogs
Mice and frogs
Bears and hares
Long hair, short hair, or no hair at all
Wild or tame
Friendly, scary, cuddly
Some nice, some not so nice, some beastly
Animals tell tales, short tails, long tails, or no tails at all
Fluffy and scary
Fluffy and hairy
Fluffy and cuddly
Fluffy and beastly
Animals that live in the wild
Animals that live in a paddock
Animals that live in your house
Animals that live in a pet store
I love animals
Do you?
Should you?
Would you?
You could if only you tried
So beg and plead and cry
Try puppy dog eyes
See if your parents will buy you one.

Christmas Shoe Boxes!!!

Room 22 are sending away Christmas shoe boxes! Christmas shoe boxes are shoe boxes that we send away to poor countries containing gifts like pencils, books, and toys. The whole syndicate are doing this and we were inspired by a video on youtube. It is a great opportunity to be able to light up a child's day. We are doing our shoe boxes to one boy and one girl, both aged 5-9.

Operation Christmas Child

Hi all!

I know that I usually let the children do the blogging, but today I felt that I had to share my impressions of the rewarding activity that we have undertaken this week.

At the beginning of the week Mrs Haylock asked us to open our minds to consider the plight of children in under privileged countries that wouldn't be getting a Christmas present.

Operation Christmas Child has been linking people from all over the world since 1990, filling a need and bring a great deal of joy.

After our initial discussions we decided to create a special Christmas box for a boy between the ages of 4 - 9.  The children wrote a list of what they thought would be appropriate gifts and we discussed why somethings could, and couldn't be sent.  I really do have a class of great thinkers!

I am so proud of all of you.  You and your families have astounded me with your generosity.  We raised so much that we managed to fill a second box, this one ready for a little girl somewhere in the world to share the joy of Christmas.  Letting them know that somewhere in this world, a bunch of wonderful, caring and thoughtful kids are thinking of them.

You have made a change ... there is nothing more powerful than that.
